Petitions for Limit Increases

A registered Montana medical marijuana cardholder may petition for an exception to the 5 oz monthly limit on purchases. This will increase the patients’ Monthly Purchase limits from 5 to 8 ounces per month.

The doctor's confirmation is required to show that the cardholder's ongoing or serious medical condition justifies buying more than the 5-ounce monthly limit. This confirmation must be from the same physician who signed the cardholder’s written certification.

When the state approves an exception to the monthly limit, the new purchase limit will be entered into the state registration system.
